Colombard from a small dry-farmed Swartland vineyard”
The Colombard 2017 and 2018 has been produced at the small vineyard Klein Goedhart in Riebeek Kasteel owned by Ad Goedhart from 34 year old vines and marketed by Zim Somm Pardon Taguzu. Karin Leeuwenhoek of Vinoblogie about the Colombard 2017: “Intriguing character wine from 35 year old Colombard vines from a dry-farmed Swartland vineyard. Barrel-fermented with natural yeast. Toast and caramel are evident at the nose, but not dominant as there is so much more…: quince, fresh citrus, yellow kiwi, roasted hazelnuts, marzipan, ripe sweet & savoury character, full-bodied and complex, with quinces coming back in the long finish, that carries on with uplifting acidity and toasted oak and almond notes.”
The wine is made by renowned winemaker Jolandie Fouché, who worked at Kloovenburg Vineyards and currently has her own wine range “Woman and Wolf”.
