WInery
La Chataigne Farm has belonged to the Parkfelt family since they moved to Franschhoek from Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1972. Today, La Chataigne Wines and Guest Cottages is run by Richard and Julie Parkfelt with the support of a great team. It is a working farm, situated 7 km from Franschhoek village, in the heart of the winelands. Simplicity and value are at the forefront of the La Chataigne Brand.
The farm makes a boutique range of white, red and rosé wines. Only a fraction of the grapes are bottled under the La Chataigne brand, making a total of +-15,000 bottles each year. You can also stay at La Chataigne in one of their beautiful cottages.
WIne maker
Gerda Willers, besides being winemaker at Four Paws Wines, has been helping Richard Parkfelt make wine since 2003. Since then they have made a vintage every year, with a focus on making lovely wines to complement life and food. Something unique is that each label is handwritten on each and every bottle. A labour of love, or maybe insanity…– according to Richard.
