WINERY

Deux Frères Wines is still a young winery; it was founded in 2008 when brothers Retief & Stephan du Toit decided to continue the legacy as a winery bequeathed to them by their mother and stepfather, Hester & Marc Wiehe. They left behind the foundation on which Deux Frères Wines is built. It is the smallest wine estate in Stellenbosch and is situated on the banks of a natural so-called wetland on the western slope of Simonsberg.

It is the philosophy of Deux Frères Wines that nature and terroir make the wine. In the cellar, therefore, the policy is also to intervene as minimally as possible. Stephan describes himself as a traditional winemaker driven by taste and intuition rather than a modern winemaker with all the precision that entails.

The first harvest was that of 2011 and the brothers have since realized their dream of producing iconic wines.
