Beau Constantia is a boutique winery located at the top of Constantia Nek overlooking beautiful False Bay. Vines are planted to a height of 350 meters above sea level on some of the steepest agricultural slopes in the Cape. These lovingly nurtured vines are treated to panoramic views of the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges and across False Bay to Hangklip.
After devastating fires destroyed the fynbos and pine forests on the property in 2000, the slopes were cleared and terraced, revealing great potential for vineyard planting.
The current owners of Beau Constanta Pierre and Cecily Du Preez purchased the 22-acre site in 2002 and, after extensive soil analysis, the first vineyards were planted in 2003 with the help of dedicated farm manager Japie Bronn.
Developing vineyards on the steep slopes required a lot of patience and effort, but today the winery is proud to have 11.5 acres planted with vines that include the grape varieties Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Shiraz & Petit Verdot.
The wine names relate to the various family members of the Du Preez family. Meet these delicious wines and experience the beauty that Constantia has to offer.
